Unity Commission
The Unity Commission is comprised of one officially appointed representative from each member denomination. It is responsible for areas of interfaith relations and enhancing relations within the diverse Christian community. The Unity Commission is chaired by Pastor John Petty. Although the Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks attended by 10,000 people is its best known program, the Commission members work together to carry out other efforts. Some of those are:

UNITY COMMISSION PROJECTS

 Concerning Christian Unity: A theoligical statement on Christian Unity developed by the Unity Commission. Click on Concerning Christian Unity under Publications and Curriculum.

Ecumenical Presence: develop ways that there will be a visible ecumenical presence at judicatory “assemblies” as well as develop Christian unity “blurbs” for congregational newsletters and bulletins. Convener – Catharyn Baird

Collaborative Efforts with Eco-Justice Ministries
: Explore ways to involve a broad base Christian community around environmental issues.  Convener - Scott Schiesswohl

Christian – Muslim Dialogue
: Develop dialogue opportunities based on the world-wide Muslim document “A Common Word between Us and You.” Convener – Jerry Lang

Dialogue with AJC: We will continue our ongoing dialogue with the American Jewish Committee. Convener – Jim Ryan

General Assembly of NCCC: The General Assembly of the National Council of Churches will be in Denver, November 11-13 with pre-events the 9th and 10th. We will be involved with many of our people asked to participate. Plus the major leaders of each of our denominations will be present. Convener – Beth Robey Hyde

Easter Sunrise Service: The annual Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks will continue. Convener – Jim Ryan
