Christian-Jewish Under the direction of the Unity Commission, there has been an ongoing six year dialogue between the Colorado Council of Churches and the American Jewish Committee. Members has been involved in extensive dialogue around Israeli-Palestinian relations and the effect upon mainline Christian–Jewish relations, theology, cultural issues, anti-Semitism, and the faith/scriptural basis of our social justice ministries. The members attended together a screening of the movie, “The Passion of Christ”, and then engaged in an enlightening discussion. The full Boards of both organizations meet together for lunch and discussion at least once a year.
The Colorado Council of Churches often collaborates with the Rocky Mountain Rabbinical Council, American Jewish Committee and Anti-Defamation League on efforts to address social justice issues.
Dr. Ryan is available to present a power-point presentation, "Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: One Pastor's Perspective", which was developed after spending ten days,in February 2008, in Israel and the West Bank visiting with Israeli, Palestinian, Muslim, Christian, Jewish leaders , professors, officials and citizens.
New Christian – Muslim Dialogue
For the first time, the Unity Commission of the Colorado Council of Churches has initiated a formal dialogue between local Christian clergy and leaders in the Islamic community. The dialogue group was begun in response to the issuance of the document A Common Word Between Us and You, a statement composed by 138 Muslim scholars, clerics and intellectuals. The Common Word document boldly declares the existence of common ground between Christianity and Islam. In the past year, it has become the basis for Christian/Muslim discussions around the world. The local Muslim/Christian dialogue group began meeting in October, 2008 and to date has met three times. The goal of the group is quite simple: To foster new understanding between Christians and Muslims by providing a place for honest discussion. Please keep this important dialogue group in your thoughts and prayers.
