Kids 1st License Plates

Ordering your own Kids 1st license plates is a great way to support programs that promote the health and safety of Colorado’s children.

To secure your Kids 1st license plates, you need to make a $30 donation to Colorado Kids 1st. ($20 will be distributed by Colorado Kids 1st and $10 will be distributed by the Colorado Council of Churches. All thirty dollars will go directly to programs in Colorado which support the health and safety of kids in Colorado.) In filling out the application on line at the Colorado Kids 1st web site, please be sure to list the Colorado Council of Churches as the referring organization.

You will then receive, by e-mail, a certificate to be presented to the DMV which will allow you to purchase your license plates. (Please note that you do not have to wait for your present license plates to expire.) At the DMV, in addition to the regular cost of your plates, you will pay an additional $50 fee for this special plate. Unlike vanity plates, you will pay this additional fee only the first year.

Thank you so much for supporting kids in Colorado. Be sure to list Colorado Council of Churches as the referring organization. Click here to place your order.

Rally Day

Theme: Kids 1st
Kids 1st in Learning the Faith - Kids 1st in Living the Faith
Scripture: Mark 10:13-16

Kids First in Learning the Faith: Rally Day (or whatever you call it in your congregation) is always an exciting time as the Christian education program revs back up for a new year of learning and growing in the faith.

Of course, you will want to take time to explain the curriculum which you will be using this year, why it was chosen and any distinct features that facilitate the learning process of each child and youth. A highlight will be recognizing the teachers and honoring them for their personal faith and time commitment of making Kids 1st .
Songs are always a vital part of any rally day as well as the actual movement of the kids to their new classes. Everything should be done to emphasize the importance of kids in the present day life of the church.

Kid’s First in Living the Faith: Christian education is not just about imparting information about the faith, but also demonstrating the living of that faith. Here are some ideas for Rally day as well as some ways for the youth and children to become involved in living their faith around kid’s issues here in Colorado.

1.    Have all the adults and kids bring school supplies to the Rally Day. Partner with a local school to divide up the supplies with children who can not afford their own.

2. Promote the Kids 1st license plates among the adults. Explain that all proceeds will go to support programs that promote the health and safety of children in Colorado.

3.    Announce the plan for involving your kids (either directly or raising money) in a project with a local social service agency that focuses on serving children. It is very important that through out the year you make sure that the faith living is integrated in the faith learning. They will learn a life lesson that serving others is an integral part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
